Mini Kms Activator Office 2010 Professional Plus

I recently setup a KMS server to do volume activations for my Office 2010 and Windows 7 Installs. Hi Darryl My KMS server is indeed a windows 2008 r2. The time is right on the client, as well as the server. Also can I ask you a question.? My office installs were previously MAK when I convert them to KMS clients why do I still receive this when I type ospp.vbs /dstatus on the client, should that MAK info not be there anymore?

Question - this client had been MAK activated when you decided to convert it back to KMS - I don't believe you can convert to KMS once the client is MAK activated. I'm not sure why you want to convert. A MAK activation is good indefinitely, whereas a KMS activation must be reactivated every 180 days (KMS is best for larger installations - MS recommends 50 Office 2010 clients or more). At this point, I would leave any MAK activated clients alone; if you are planning a large number of new clients, activate them through KMS, which is the default client product key.

Otherwise, continue with MAK for fewer installs. See the following articles about setting up KMS activation: Darryl Mondrow. Darryl, I can tell you why our office 2010's and Windows 7 were activated using MAK, this was done before we realized that the KMS solution would better suit our needs, because we do alot of re-imaging for training courses, and the kms solution is easier for us long term.

I hope you can clarify a question for me, once I put in the kms key from technet to convert the client from a MAK client to a KMS client for both office 2010 and windows 7 and they activate against our kms server, the MAK key now becomes 'Out of grace', but the KMS key says 'Licensed' with a return code of 0. My question is does this look correct?, and since the MAK key is listed as 'out of grace', does it still count as one license in use for our MAK client total? Thanks for any light you can shed my way concerning this matter. Hi there, I'll try to address some of your questions and concerns: 1.) You have two products on your machine: (1) Office Professional Plus suite, which includes Word, Excel, PPT, Outlook, etc., and (2) Microsoft Project. These are considered two different products.

Your MS Project is still MAK activated. Your Office ProPlus is now using KMS client activation. First, if you want to change your Project MAK key back to a KMS client key, you may do so from the same website where you found the other KMS client keys. 2.) Are other computers having this error when trying to activate with the KMS host? Or only this one? Have other computers successfully activated with the KMS host? Ted Way MSFT, Program Manager, Microsoft Office: Enterprise Licensing, Group Policy, and 64-bit Office.

Hi Ted I didn't even know that Office 2010 comes with Microsoft project is it a recent add in?, is this new?, so your telling me if I check the Microsoft project piece of Office 2010 it should say it needs activation, because on all my clients the MAK key OfficeProjectPro-MAK edition says OOB 'out of grace'. I assume it is complaining about the Microsoft Project. So if I understand you correctly, activating Office 2010 DOES NOT activate Microsoft Project also, it requires a separate activation using a KMS key from Am I understanding this correctly? Thank you for the response. Just to clarify: Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Plus and Microsoft Project 2010 are separate products. Project is a standalone application.

Professional

When you ran /dstatus on your computer, I could see that you have ProPlus and Project installed. If you installed Office and Project without changing to the MAK key, then they would both be KMS clients.

Since you've installed the MAK key for Project, you will need to change it back to the KMS client key if you want to activate it with a KMS host. For KMS activation, you can activate both products with the same KMS host. Two activation requests will be sent - one for each product. Technically, activating ProPlus will not activate Project. Project will require a separate activation, but from the end-user's or administrator's perspective, the requests are sent at pretty much the same time and both products get activated.

It's as if they get activated at the same time. Ted Way MSFT, Program Manager, Microsoft Office: Enterprise Licensing, Group Policy, and 64-bit Office. Sorry Ted, A couple more questions, as I am still confused. So does Microsoft Project come with Office 2010 Professional Plus?, so if I did a complete install of Office 2010 professional plus would that also include Project 2010?

Is that correct? The whole Office 2010 professional suite was activated using MAK, this was until we decided to go the KMS route. Hence my recent confusion in having to digest all this in a short time frame. Thanks again and if you could clarify my question, I 'd greatly appreciate it. You have been a big help, in helping me understand the process. HI Clive, To clarify, Project 2010 is not part of the Office 2010 Pro Plus suite. Project and the Office suite each have their own KMS client key.

Both Office 2010 and Project clients can be activated by the same KMS host. The Office 2010 suite and Project are installed separately and require separate activations. Since you originally activated both Office and Project by using MAK and now want to activate both products by KMS, you must change both the Office suite client key and Project client key separately. Hope this helps Darryl Mondrow.
